SodaTide 100 mg Resistant Starch: How It Compares With Trial Doses
SodaTide 100 mg resistant starch is the amount of potato resistant starch the label prints per capsule, which is 0.1 g. Trials of resistant starch used about 1 to 66 g a day. That gap neither makes the capsule safe nor unsafe, and no study tested SodaTide itself.

The number01
What is SodaTide 100 mg resistant starch?
It is 0.1 g of potato resistant starch in each capsule, as the label prints it. Resistant starch is starch that escapes digestion in the small intestine and is fermented in the colon. (Harvard Health, Resistant starch)
The panel line reads "Potato (Resistant Starch) (tuber) 100 mg". The label names no type of resistant starch, so we will not guess one.
Against food02
How does 100 mg compare with resistant starch in food?
It is small. Harvard Health puts typical US intake at about 4 g a day, and Cleveland Clinic says about 5 g. (Harvard Health, Resistant starch) (Cleveland Clinic, Resistant starch)
Harvard also reports that a russet potato goes from 3.1 to 4.3 g of resistant starch per 100 g once cooked and cooled. Next to that, 0.1 g is about 2 percent of 4.3 g. Harvard calls the effect of cooling "probably modest at best".
| Item | Grams |
|---|---|
| One SodaTide capsule | 0.1 |
| Typical US intake, a day | about 4 to 5 |
| 100 g cooled russet potato | 4.3 |
| Studies, a day | about 1 to 66 |
Against trials03
What doses did resistant starch trials use?
A narrative review reports trial doses of about 1 to 66 g a day, mostly of a type called RS2 from maize. (Baptista 2024, Resistant starch narrative review) The lowest, 1 g, is 1,000 mg, or ten times one capsule.
The review is narrative and its results vary widely. One pooled analysis found a small weight drop, mostly in people with type 2 diabetes, and another found no clear BMI effect. The pages we read did not measure gas.
A smaller amount is not proof of weakness, safety or risk. It only means those results cannot be carried onto this capsule.
- Chicory Root InulinLimited
Limited: small trials at gram doses; weight effects small or mixed. Small trials of inulin-type fibre on appetite, weight and gut bacteria; most used several grams a day. (Cleveland Clinic, Inulin) (WebMD, Inulin: Uses and Risks) (Harvard Nutrition Source, Fiber) (Kunnackal John 2018, Gut microbiome diet and weight meta-analysis)
- Potato Resistant StarchLimited
Limited: small trials at gram doses; weight evidence limited. Trials of resistant starch (often raw potato starch in gram doses) on blood sugar, fullness and gut bacteria. (Cleveland Clinic, Resistant starch) (Harvard Health, Resistant starch) (Baptista 2024, Resistant starch narrative review)
- Probiotic BlendVery limited
Very limited for these three names and for weight. Probiotic effects depend on the exact strain; studies of other strains looked at weight and gut symptoms. (NCCIH, Probiotics: Usefulness and Safety) (NIH ODS, Probiotics (health professional)) (ISAPP, Decoding a Probiotic Product Label) (Kunnackal John 2018, Gut microbiome diet and weight meta-analysis) (Cleveland Clinic, Probiotics and weight loss)
Bubbles show how much human research the linked sources describe for the uses the front of the bottle implies: appetite, metabolism and digestion. From 0 (none found) to 5 (strong). None of it tested SodaTide, and research on an ingredient is not proof that a product works at the printed amount.

Who should ask a clinician first?
Ask first if you take diabetes medicine, are pregnant or nursing, or have a gut condition. Fermentable fibre can cause gas and bloating, so raise fibre slowly. (Mayo Clinic, Dietary fiber)
NIDDK lists insulin, sulfonylureas and meglitinides as medicines that can cause low blood sugar. (NIDDK, Low Blood Glucose (Hypoglycemia)) We cannot say how this product interacts with them. Show the bottle to your pharmacist and keep taking every prescribed medicine.
We found no public test or FDA notice for SodaTide, which proves nothing. See the potato resistant starch page and the potato starch guide.
The label amount is a fact, and what it does in a body is unknown.

FAQ05
SodaTide questions people ask
How many grams is 100 mg of resistant starch?
100 mg is 0.1 g, since 1,000 mg make a gram. That is one tenth of the lowest trial dose of about 1 g a day we read about.
Is 100 mg of resistant starch enough to matter?
We cannot say. No study tested this capsule, and trial doses were far larger. That gap does not show weakness or safety.
Is SodaTide resistant starch raw potato starch?
We could not confirm that. The label prints "Potato (Resistant Starch) (tuber)" without naming a type or how it is made.
