Are Fat Burners Safe? What FDA Warns and What to Check

Quick answer

Nobody can call fat burners as a group safe, because the term covers many products with different contents. The FDA does not approve supplements before sale and warns that many weight-loss pills hold hidden drugs. Ask a clinician first if you take medicine or have a condition.

Are fat burners safe to take?

No one can say yes for the whole group. "Fat burner" is a sales word, not a recipe, and each bottle holds a different mix.

The FDA names sibutramine in one capsule product as an example. (FDA, Slim-K hidden drug notice (example)) Its list covers only a small share of such products, so a missing name proves nothing.

What does the SodaTide label print about safety?

It prints a caution, not a safety verdict. The label says take one capsule daily with an 8 oz. glass of water and do not exceed the recommended dose.

Its three Supplement Facts lines are chicory root inulin 211 mg, potato resistant starch 100 mg and a 36 mg probiotic blend. Caffeine is not among them. Fibre can cause gas and bloating. No study has tested the product.
